(Geographic Resources Analysis Support System) is an open source,
free Geographical Information System (GIS) with raster,
topological vector, image processing, and graphics production
functionality that operates on various platforms through a
graphical user interface and shell in X-Windows. It is released
under GNU General Public License (GPL).</FONT></P>
<P><FONT FACE="AvantGarde, sans-serif"><B>GRASS</B> ist ein
freies <B>GIS</B>. Es ist <U>kostenfrei</U><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none">
und</SPAN> für <U>jedermann</U> im Internet verfügbar.
<B>GRASS</B> verfügt über zahlreiche Funktionalitäten.
Es ist mit herkömmlichen <B>GIS</B> <B>Programmen</B> zu
vergleichen. Seine Stärke liegen vor allem in der Raster
verarbeitung. <B>GRASS</B> läuft auf verschiedenen
Betriebssystemen. Von <B>GRASS</B> liegt der Quellcode vor,
dadurch ist es von jedermann auf seine Bedürfnisse hin
zuzuschneiden. Für <B>GRASS</B> gibt es eine graphische
Benutzeroberfläche wie sie auch unter Windows bzw. ARC/View
bekannt ist. <B>GRASS</B> wird unter der <B>GNU General Public
License (GPL)</B> veröffentlicht.</FONT></P>
