herzlichen Dank für Deine Vorschläge! Ich bevorzuge definitiv den zweiten Titelvorschlag, wobei ich "Scientific Data Infrastructure eher als "Research Data Infrastructure" bezeichnen würde. Aber vielleicht hast Du Dir ja etwas ganz Bestimmtes dabei gedacht oder es ist einfach nur Geschmackssache. Den Abstract-Vorschlag begrüße ich ebenso. Ich fühlte mich erinnert an den Text von Konstantin und mir, welchen wir für die State oft he Map Tagung eingereicht hatten. Vielleicht findet sich darin ja noch eine nützliche Ergänzung, wie etwa die im Raume stehenden Fragen?

	The Future of the Past: Preservation of OpenStreetMap Data 

	Abstract
	OpenStreetMap is a valuable source of worldwide spatiotemporal data, which needs to be preserved and accessed for science and society. A German working group draws attention to this topic and 	wants to get in contact with the international OSM-community to discuss the most important questions of preservation and access, as: Why should outdated geodata remain relevant? Who uses such 	OSM-data? Which approaches and requirements exist? How can we find a global approach and what can we learn from each other? How could we collaborate?

	Description 
	With OpenStreetMap numerous volunteers worldwide are contributing to a free and open map of the world. For 20 years, they have been collecting and contributing data that is hardly in the scope of 	national, official mapping agencies. In large parts of the world it is indeed the only available source of geodata. Due to this wealth of information OSM plays a major role in topographical 	documentation of our world and is a vital part in a variety of geodata products. OSM data does provide a valuable spatial insight into our digital transformed global society and is crucial to scientists in 	studying its change and evolution. 
	Indeed, the OSMF and Archive.org provide both planet and history files. But to our knowledge there is no coordinated concept according to principles of long-term preservation including an easy 	access to the data and its cartographical representations.   
	To find an appropriate solution for the preservation of OpenStreetMap data, we have founded a working group at FOSSGIS e.V. This association is the local chapter of the OSMF in Germany and a non-	profit organization that promotes free and open-source software for geographic information systems (GIS) in German-speaking countries. It supports projects, organizes the yearly held FOSSGIS 	conference, and fosters collaboration between developers, users, academia, and public institutions. The association plays a key role in advancing open geodata and open standards in the GIS 	community. Our working group consists of scientists, officials, and OSM mappers.
	At the FOSSGIS Conference 2025 in Münster, Germany, we held our first public BoF session, where we received rich interest and strong feedback. At this year's FOSSGIS conference in Göttingen, 	Germany, we talked about legal aspects of a potential OSM archiving project. At the following BoF and the OSM-community-meeting, we have started to discuss, which approaches and requirements 	exist and how national archives and libraries could be involved. 
	In the next step we are interested in spreading and discussing the goals of the project beyond national boundaries, as the OSM world map is a global issue. We want to draw attention to the question, if 	a coordinated georedundant preservation of the OSM-data should be necessary and how approaches could look like. Why should outdated geodata remain relevant? Who uses such OSM-data? Which 	approaches and requirements exist? How can we find a global approach and what can we learn from each other? How could we collaborate? Based on a talk and a following BoF, we want to get in 	contact with the international audience to discuss our questions and thoughts.

Titelvorschlag 2: From Open Map to Scientific Data Infrastructure:
Preserving and Using Historical OpenStreetMap Data

Abstract-Vorschlag:

Over the last two decades, OpenStreetMap has become a global, community-generated source of spatio-temporal geodata. Volunteers are documenting spatial distributions of infrastructure, land use, transportation, environmental features and other spatial entities that are often not covered in detail by national mapping agencies. This global grass-roots mapping effort documents and maps changes in geographical space on various timesclaes, reflecting changes by urban growth, agriculture, global climate change, natural desasters and other causes.
Open Streetmap data are blended with governmental topographical data, research results and remote sensing data to create added value in research. However, there is still no coordinated concept for long-term preservation, FAIR access, scientific citation, provenance documentation and cartographic reuse. This session focuses on use cases, lessons learned and challenges, to utilize and preserve this spatio-temporal data commons in various branches of geosciences.

Für so eine Session können wir bis zu vier Convener benennen (mindestens zwei). Wer macht mit ?

Wichtig: Convener müssen vor Ort in Wien an der Konferenz teilnehmen (kostenpflichtig). "Remote" geht leider noch nicht.

Tipp: Studierende können kostenlos remote an der Konferenz teilnehmen.
