[FOSSGIS-Talk] Enquiry re QGIS and installation package

Dear members of the fossgis-community mailing list,

I hope you are well.

I do have an enquiry re the installation of QGIS and the installation package.

Because QGIS automatically installs Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package we do have a problem in our team as the extended Microsoft support ended on 12th April 2016. However, and according to our very own internal policy, we do need such an ongoing support background to be able to install and run such a programme/application.

Hence, as we are currently not able to work with QGIS I would like to ask you whether you have some information


a)    if a follow up version/QGIS upgrade is planned, which is not based on that out-of-date Redistributable Package



b)    if there is any other work around that you could recommend

I would be more than happy to hear from any of you so that we can drive our project forward.
